from Uonuma

I haven't uploaded any message for so long. Why is that? That is because, to be honest with you, I am lazy, very lazy. Plus there is not so many things going on in the area. Is this a bad news? I believe this is a charm of Uonuma (魚沼). For example, this area is surrounded by many beautiful mountains, many of which are scarcely populated with hikers even in the best season. If you go hiking in the Nagago prefecture for example you can not even sing a song, if you do not mind others please go ahead. In Uonuma accommodation is a nuisance for tourists from abroad because you would not be able to find inns and hotels with English texts. Hougando (宝巌堂), a ryokan (Japanese style inn) is a great choice. It also does not have English texts but you can send mails and ask details in English. Tomoko-san, referred to as Okami who is in charge of customer service at ryokan, would be pleased to answer your questions. Their food and onsen (hot spring) is superb.

Winter is about to end. You might say it is over already, but I am not sure if the winter is really ended as it snowed recently. I am waiting for the real spring to come when we have beautiful Sakura blossoms.
